Police nab cable thieves
PASIGHAT, June 06: The Pasighat police yesterday busted a gang of BSNL cable thieves and arrested seven members.
They have been identified as Ojing Yirang (38) of Siluk, Doctor Pegu (30) of Jonai, Assam, Taring Tayeng (35) of Lower Dibang Valley, Simul (Nimul) Taye of Oyan, Md. Ashruddin Ali (25) of Bogimati, Assam and Akit Yommin(19) of Mirku.
DSP Tab Techi stated that all seven have confessed their involvement in the theft of BSNL cables. A case has been registered under section 61/14 U/S 379 IPC.
According to police source, since 2013, seven cases were registered at Pasighat police station. “We are hopeful that after this arrest the problem of cable theft across the district will come down,” added the DSP.

Tuki appoints 18 parliamentary secretaries
ITANAGAR, June 6: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today appointed 18 Parliamentary Secretaries including two women and three first time MLAs to assist him in smooth functioning of his government. The much awaited swearing in ceremony of parliamentary secretaries was held at Banquet Hall this evening, where the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki administered oath of office and secrecy to them.
The Parliamentary Secretaries included C.T Mein, Punji Mara, Phosum Khimhun, Jomde Kena, Techi Kaso, Bamang Felix, Jambey Tashi, Likha Saaya, Markio Tado, Phurpa Tsering, Kumsi Sidisow, Alo Libang, Karya Bagang, Tapuk Taku, Gum Tayeng, Mama Natung, Mutchu Mithi and Tatung Jamoh. Karya Bagang and Gum Tayeng are two women parliamentary secretaries while Mama Natung, Mutchu Mithi and Tatung Jamoh are first time MLAs.

Tourism minister holds parley with officials of the department
ITANAGAR, June 06: Minister for Tourism, Town Planning, Housing, Urban Development, Art & Culture Pema Khandu today held a meeting of all the senior officials of tourism department to take a stock of the all the projects and other activities being carried out by the department. He interacted with all officials and staff of the department. Secretary Tourism Dr. Joram Beda made a detailed power point presentation regarding infrastructure, Human Resource development, Tourism Promotion & Marketing, Fairs & Festival, Eco Tourism policy, Adventure Tourism, Project prioritization for the current financial year etc.
The secretary deliberated on the need for tourism trade act and rules, creation of District Tourism Promotion council and Tourism vision 2020.
Minister tourism extolled the performance of tourism department but at the same time conveyed the need for highest degree of commitment and professional excellence on part of the department officials. He stressed on the need for efficient and time bound implementation of projects undertaken by tourism department. He has also emphasized on the need for the participation of all stake holders in the tourism sector, especially while framing crucial policy decisions by tourism department. Taru Talo, Director Tourism and Gedo Eshi, Deputy Director (East) were also present.
The meeting was drawn to a close with a vote of thanks by Tage Buda, Deputy Director. He congratulated Pema Khandu on being appointed as Cabinet Minister for Tourism. He also appreciated and applauded Dr. Joram Beda (IAS) Secretary Tourism as a young and dynamic Officer who has initiated and done so many innovative measures within a few months after joining the department.
Review of HEP projects and TAH, land acquisition process
BOMDILA, June 6: A meeting of the representatives of Army, BRO, Hydro power developers and officers of the District administration was held today at Bomdila to monitor the progress of the major Hydro Electric Power (HEP) projects of 100 MW & above and also of the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) in the district.
Of the many Hydro power projects in the district, the Gongri executed by the Patel Engineering, Nafra executed by the SEW Green Energy and Dibbin executed by KSK Energy Ventures were taken up for review and discussion.
Likewise, discussions were held on BCT and OKSRT roads in the district.
The status of the Munna-
Due to the implementation of the new Land Acquisition Act, all the proposals sent from the district for Defence Land acquisition in the district has been sent back resulting in delay and other related hurdles. It was therefore decided to request the Director, Land Management to depute a master trainer for the district. Also, the Army was required to send proposal for a plan to acquire land on lease basis which subsequently would facilitate the land acquisition process.
Under the new Land Acquisition Act, land acquisition at Nafra & Thrizino in the district would be taken up on priority.
The state and the central governments have identified 13 priority Power projects in Arunachal for speedy implementation which requires the concerned DCs to monitor the progress on monthly basis in respect of land acquisition, environment & forest clearance and any other pending issues related. Likewise, they are also to monitor the progress of the Trans Arunachal Highway on monthly basis.
Detailing the target of the state government, DC AK Singh impressed on the need to speed up the works as power and connectivity are the prerequisites for any development. He sought the status of the projects in question and reviewed on each elaborately.(DIPRO)

The drive is supported by motor transports unions, including maxicab, auto and trekker and ward members and councillors.
Chief Councillor Higio Aruni in her address informed that sanitation is the most difficult subject to tackle due to lack of man power and tools.
Highlighting the achievements of IMC in span of one year, the chief councillor claimed that IMC has successfully implemented the urban poverty elevation schemes which benefitted many. She added that IMC is also looking after the issuance of trading license of slaughter house and registration of death and birth. She also pointed out that lack of fund has slowed down the activities of IMC in the capital complex.

Action plan for greater integration of Northeast
New Delhi, June 06: Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday said government has an action plan for greater integration of the Northeast with the rest of India through telecom, digital, radio and TV connectivity.
"We have an action plan for greater integration of Northeast India with rest of the country through telecom, digital, radio and TV connectivity and that would be reflected in the Union Budget", he told reporters here.
Javadekar said he had told a committee looking into the concerns of persons hailing from Northeast that there should be greater integration of the Northeast with the rest of the country.
The committee headed M P Bezbaruah, a former Union Tourism Secretary, was set up by the government to suggest measures to address concerns of people from the Northeast following outrage over the death of Nido Tania, a student from Arunachal Pradesh, here. It will submit its report next month.
"The minister has said the aim should be to create connectivity physically and in the mindset of the people with the Northeast, sensitise people in the metros, particularly people in the middle class with whom Northeast people come into contact," Bezbaruah told reporters.
Emphasizing on strengthening Indian TV and radio channels, he said these channels should promote harmony in the states and "take our rich culture beyond the borders of India".

TEZU, June 06: Newly elected MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai has put emphasis on flood protection, distribution of PDS items and improvement in tourism, education, medical sectors as well as provision of alternate cultivation in place of opium cultivation.
He said this during an interactive meeting with PRI members, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and other government officials in Tezu today.
Dr. Chai while outlining his vision for better Tezu further said that road, light, water, and other infrastructure has to be improved. In order to reach the targets, he requested coordination of all the departments.
He further said that he will not take undue advantage of any official and that he will let his work speak for him. He called on the government employees to be committed in their work and work fearlessly without giving undue favouritism.

TAWANG, June 06: A meeting was held in the DC’s Conference Hall, Tawang recently in connection with Model School Evacuation Plan on Disaster Management and prevention and control of forest fires in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Tawang Abhishek Dev stated that as per past experiences of major disasters, a large number of casualties/ injuries are reported from schools/ hostels due to lack of awareness & preparedness of the school authorities in tackling disasters. He informed that the department of disaster management, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh has circulated a school safety guidebook for school disaster management planning and a copy of this guidebook was provided to all the leading schools for their reference and further necessary action.
Dev also directed the teachers and school authority to prepare school disaster management/ evacuation plan as per the guide book and submit one copy to the DC office at the earliest. He advised all the schools to organize awareness generation pragrammes on disaster management through various means like competitions on essay, quiz, poster etc. and conduct mock drills in all schools. All school should keep basic needs and equipment like emergency light, First Aid kits, and fire extinguishers etc in readiness at the schools and also maintain hygienic conditions in the schools to prevent epidemics.

NHPC sponsors skill development prog. for 35 unemployed youths

NHPC Subansiri Lower HE Project sponsors the training program for making these unemployed youths employable and bringing about a socio economic change in the society. These unemployed youths were identified and scrutinised in association with District Administration of Dhemaji.
This batch of 35 youths who were seen off from Gogamukh by GK Singh, Chief (HR), NHPC in the presence of officials from local administration, will undergo their respective vocational training at M/s L&T Training Centre, Ghaziabad from June 6.
Together with these 35 youths, NHPC, SLHEP has already sponsored 204 unemployed youths from project vicinity to various such programme in different trades in different parts of the country.
The first batch of 11 youths were sent to Kolkata for Logistic Management Trade training programme through M/s TCIL , the second batch of 20 youths were sent to Kolkata for Heavy Equipment training programme in Tata Hitachi and the third batch of 20 youths undergone training on Logistic Management Training Programme at Kolkata through M/s TCIL.
The fourth and fifth batch of 88 participants were sent to M/s L&T Training Centre, Ghaziabad and the sixth batch of 30 unemployed youths have undergone Graphic Designing training programme at New Delhi.
It is pertinent to mention that, the present batch of 35 local unemployed youths comprises former BLT (Bodo Liberation Tiger) cadre and their family members.
Through a message, Executive Director of NHPC Rakesh congratulated the selected participants and their guardians for showing keen interest and encouraged them to complete the training. He urged them to learn as much as possible which in turn will help them in their career in future. NHPC’s endeavour has been to bring the misled and unemployed youths of the society to mainstream.

Check the condition of vehicle

We on behalf of Capital Youth Organisation (C.Y.O) would like to lay down some lines in the context of frequent accident of public transport vehicle especially that of the Trekker plying in between Naharlagun and Itanagar. It is very unfortunate that within this last couple of month, so many accidents occurred in between Itanagar and Naharlagun that too at the same spot and involving same kind of vehicle i.e Trekker. All these accident had claimed many precious innocent lives, whom to blame? To the Driver? To the vehicle? To the administration? Or the public who travels in those vehicle for daily purpose? There must be some way to check this.
So, in this regard, we urge the concern department especially traffic safety cell and department of public transportation to sort out some way to check this menace. We urge the Motor Vehicle inspector to strictly check the condition of vehicle carrying public and ensure that it is in healthy condition. At present what they do is just check the license and other documents of the vehicle, but they seldom pay attention to the condition of vehicle. They need to change their working style as in developed country its punishable even if the vehicle has not tail light fixed.
So, we strongly appeal MV inspector to check the vehicle condition along with document that too strictly and on regular basis. Such problems can be curbed with the joint effort of department as well as public. We urge common public also to cooperate with the authority in this regard.

I would like to share following incident with fellow citizens. “Oh Behen Thora Woh Bag Se Mobile Nikal Do Na”, said one of the lady patient. I turned back and saw a lady lying on the bad with her new born baby girl beside her shedding first drops of tears on this mother earth.
23rd May 2014, I rushed to Naharlagun hospital to visit one of my relative. We were
just talking about the condition of the medical infrastructure and its poor hygiene,
and then suddenly a baby started crying. I turned back and saw a lady alone with
her baby; it seemed she was in mixed emotion. But there was no one to help her and
share her sorrow or happiness -
The baby was crying as loud as possible, may be just to make others to realize her presence but alas! Even the ‘Papa’ was not present to welcome her, then that lady (child’s mother) called me and requested me to take out cell phone from her purse. I did what she asked me for, and I went back to bed no.64.

I really don’t know what is next…next surprise… specially meant for we woman. Sometimes I wonder where I am – is this the place! Once known to be the place of peace loving people, unity in diversity, where once upon a time woman could walk anywhere anytime! But now the entire scenario of the state is upside down. Now we are not less than any other places in the list of torture, rape and murder.
Recently we all witnessed number of cases which proves the stated hypothesis 100
% alive and active, one such incident is that of Miss Aroti Mize who was killed in
an inhuman way. This kind of issue made me realize why that new born baby who knows
nothing was crying and what she wanted us to understand -
...fear of being underestimated as a sister…
…fear of becoming someone’s wife to get life time scratches…
…fear of being over burdened as a mother…
…fear of being woman in the world of wolfs!!!
These bunches of words are not to blame any man or institution; it is just to remind who we are and what we are doing. Let’s not forget what exactly this being called woman is?!! Woman is the one, who brings a man to this world and this world to a man.
…let us take some time and check our heart and mind ourselves…
…let us not allow our instinct to overpower our age old humanity…
….let us not give chance to anyone to point at us and laugh at us…
But let’s join our hands to jump to the world where there are no harassments to the one who establishes us in this wonder world and provides us with the wisdom to make a wise wish to live in a wonderful way…….!

Allegation is affecting release of payment
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily we the respective contractors for 40 boarders S/T Girls
hostel of various Middle Schools of Palin area would like to clarify the allegation
against the executing agency by the ANSU. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt, of
India accorded a sanction sum Rs. 12,490000/-
The baseless allegation made by ANSU is severely affecting the release of 2nd installment amount from the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and sufferers are the innocent and poor local contractors. The further delay in payment may compel the innocent contractors to seek legal remedy.
ANSU being student organization should rather appreciate the good works done by the officer instead of using the issues for personal grudge against the officer and leader. Although, the initial DPR was for construction of double storey RCC building but due to some technical and geographical complexity, the executing agency changed the scope (Drawing) and same was duly approved by the higher authority. It is within the competent authority to alter the scope of woks without financial burden to the state. Therefore, we appeal the state govt, to release the remaining payment as early as possible.

Expectation from new health minister
Newly appointed Health and Family Welfare Minister Kalikho Pul has assured to revamp the health department inorder to provide quality health services. Pul is believed to have told this when a team of Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA) yesterday called on him at his residence. This statement by new health minister is encouraging to hear. Health sector is in precarious condition with citizens complaining that government has not been able to provide basic health facilities. Government run hospitals lack proper facilities.
Due to this citizens are often forced to either come to state capital or go outside the state for further treatment. In such situation poor citizens are the maximum sufferers. They have to take loans to go for treatment. The government of Arunachal should welcome investment into health sector from private companies. If reputed hospitals who can provide best health care facilities are established in Arunachal it will be of great help. The government of Arunachal should offer some incentive in order to lure them to open hospitals in the state. Hope new health minister will initiate steps in this regard.
